THE HOSTS' TABLE

JOIN THE OWNERS AND THE OTHER GUESTS FOR DINNER

l'Abbaye du Palais doesn’t have a restaurant, so it isn’t possible to book a table for a romantic dinner. However, it is possible to sate your taste buds with a delicious dinner at the hosts’ table, which is prepared with care.

6 DAYS PER WEEK (on reservation only)

Please try to book at least one day in advance.

On Wednesdays the hosts’ table isn’t available, but it is possible to book a table at one of the nearby restaurants.

The menus often have fish and/or a meat dish. Different culinary preferences are taken into  account (for example, vegetarians). So if you happen to have special dietary needs, let us know at least a day beforehand, so the chef can prepare a meal to suit your tastes. If you want to know more about our cooking style and the ingredients used, you can visit our section “Our take on cooking

CHILDREN

Our hosts’ table menu is both for children and adults. How it works:

Children aren’t all that keen on sitting at the table for an eternity and prefer to eat earlier, whereas the adults often prefer taking their time, talking with friends and drinking one last coffee. To satisfy the wants of everyone, we do two separate meals, one for children at 6:30 pm outside or in the small dining room. The adults’ meal begins at 8 pm.

The children’s meal is made up of a main course and a dessert. Drinks (lemonade or water) are included. After dinner the children can go back to whatever activities they were doing and just play. This way, the parents have more time to put the youngest ones to bed and appreciate a nice relaxing meal.

A COLOURFUL EVENING

During July and August every Thursday night there is a dance evening. It is an atmospheric evening when everybody gathers around the barn that is our party hall. From the take-away counter we serve Limousin Hamburgers with French Frites, saladbowl and a desert.

Everyone staying at l’Abbaye du Palais can join us around the table or up on stage! It is our pleasure to invite everyone to come and show off their talents on stage, whether it be a comedy, dancing, a play, a song, a poem or even a quiz…whatever you feel like!

At the end of the evening our house band 'the Noisy Neighbours' appears, performing hits from the 60's and 70's.

OUR TAKE ON COOKING

'WE SOURCE ALL OF OUR INGREDIENTS LOCALLY TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE FRESH, IN SEASON, TASTY, UNIQUE AND TRUE TO REGIONAL FLAVOURS. THIS MAKES OUR MENU VARIED AND SEASONAL'

This pretty much sums up our cooking style.

Buying good products is the key. This may seem simple, but can often become complicated if precise ingredients are required. For this reason we don’t have a set menu and we often decide the same day what will be served at the hosts’ table, depending upon the fresh ingredients available. During the peak season our suppliers anticipate our demand.

THE VEGETABLE AND HERB GARDENS

The vegetable and herb gardens are Marieke's area. Every spring the ground is prepared and new and interesting varieties of fruits and vegetables are planted. Right next to the kitchen is the herb garden. There are also various fruit trees (apple, quince, cherry, grape and walnut) as well as berry bushes (raspberry, blueberry, currants and kiwi) that are carefully pruned every winter.
