THE TABLE D'HÔTES

table d'hôtes

l’Abbaye du Palais does not have a restaurant.  So it is impossible to order a table for two. Yet every day (except Wednesday) you are able to enjoy a carefully prepared dinner in a culinary atmosphere. In France this formula is called table d’hôtes (guest table: the guests join the host at his table).

Every day around 8 pm, except on Wednesday, we serve a menu of the day, consisting of 3 courses. House wines and coffee/tea are included. You are kindly requested to make your reservations on time (preferably a day in advance).

Usually fish and/or meat is used in the menus. If you have special requests, e.g. vegetarian) we would be glad to oblige,  if your request reaches us at least a day in advance.

Wednesday evenings we spend as a family. There is no table d’hôtes that evening. We would be glad to make a reservation for you at one of the restaurants nearby.

The table d’hôtes dinner is served in the elegant Grand Salon. With the exception of the summer months, there is always a crackling wood fire burning in the immense open fire place. In the summer we eat outside; in turns under the apple trees, on the south terrace or in the court yard.
menu dégustation or mini cookery clinic
On request we serve a luxury 5 or 6 course menu dégustation, accompanied by very nice wines. Depending on the guests present, we sometimes spontaneously organise a one-day cooking clinic.

In the morning we go to the Limoges market to check out what has come in fresh that day; we determine what to put on the menu, do the shopping and go for lunch; in the afternoon we put it all together, prepare the different dishes and that evening we feast on the result.

children
Our table d’hôtes formula caters for both children and adults.

Children do not like sitting at the dinner table for long and enjoy an early meal, whereas adults usually enjoy staying at the table longer: for them it is also holiday time. That is why children under 12 eat together. Outside, or at the kitchen table at 6.45 pm. The children’s menu has a main course and dessert.  Lemonade is included.

And if you prefer to have dinner together with your children, we would be glad to make a reservation for you at one of the restaurants nearby.
