In the seemingly quiet Creuse department, there is more to be done, than we can list on our website. This site is therefore far from complete but we would like to share our favourite activities with you. And please also click on the page Nature, Culture & Recreation.

Vélo rail

In the neighbouring department of Haute Vienne a railroad track has been reserved for tourism. On a so-called rail-bike you can cover miles of railway by bicycle. The track takes you across bridges, railway crossings (self-service) and runs through beautiful scenery.

Masgot

In the artists’ village of Masgot sculpting courses are given. In a professional studio different types of stone can be modelled under professional guidance. The length of the course depends on the nature of the course. The shortest course takes up one afternoon. Long enough to complete one piece.

Cross country skiing in Pigerolles

During the winter, if there is enough snow, cross country skiing (ski de fond) is possible on the plateau (height 1000m). About 90 km track is prepared. You will also find a station for ski rental and a cosy ski hut where they serve hot chocolate and crêpes.

Arbre en Arbre (from tree to tree)

An absolute top attraction for both adults and children (>1.20m, measured with ‘upstretched’ arms). With professional climbing material you will move from tree to tree. The courses have various levels of difficulty. There is a blue course for the little ones and the black course takes you through the highest tree tops.

Sailing and water skiing on Lake Vassivière

This 1000 ha lake is perfect for sailing. Surf boards, open boats and catamarans are available for rent. During the summer water sport events are regularly organised. At the local sail school weekly sailing courses are given

The Ski Nautique Club Auchaze Vassivière offers (beginner) water skiers everything they need. Apart from boats and material a special area of the lake reserved for slaloming and redoubt jumping.

On the south side of the lake near Orphelle, motor boats and canoes can be rented. Daily boat tours on the lake depart from here with or without lunch or dinner and in different types of tour boats.
